Nissan electric car deal may lead to green collar jobs

A deal signed by vehicle manufacturer Nissan may lead to the creation of green collar jobs.

The firm, which was founded in 1933 and now has operations around the world, is partnering with the All Japan Ryokan Association (AJRA) to develop electric car charging infrastructure in hotels.

Under the terms of the deal, the two organisations will install charging stations in hotels affiliated with the association for use by people paying to stay in them.

Also, test drives and tours which make use of electric vehicles will also be run in a bid to raise awareness of the technology.

Commenting on the development, AJRA president Nobuyuki Sato said: "By installing charging facilities in about 18,000 hotels all over Japan from Hokkaido to Okinawa, we will be able to greatly contribute to tourists."

He went on to claim that it is important for people to be able to charge electric vehicles while they are staying in the catering facilities.
